Earlobe Repair

There are many reasons why earlobes may require surgery, and they are all cosmetic in nature.

Torn earlobes: occur most frequently after having an earring ripped from one’s ear. Whether there is a partial or complete tear, we can repair it. The procedure is done under local anesthetic, meaning that lidocaine is used to numb the area.

Repair of large holes left after removal of gauges: can also be performed under local anesthesia. A gauge is a stretched piercing often with a large piece of jewelry inside. After the removal of the jewelry, the ear lobes are often very droopy with a large hole left behind.

Repair of sagging earlobes: As we age, our earlobes may begin to sag due to the loss of fat in the lobe and the thinning of the skin. An easy way to fix this is the injection of a filler such as Restylane® or Juvederm® into the lobes to restore the volume. The effect is immediate and long lasting. This can help one look younger.
